Sunrise Medical has acquired “substantially all of the assets” of Texas-based Switch-It Inc., designer and manufacturer of alternative driving controls for power wheelchairs used by consumers with complex seating & mobility needs.
Sunrise made the announcement on April 2. Sunrise’s Pete Coburn, president of U.S. commercial operations, said in the news release, “Switch-It is a strong fit with our business, and this acquisition accelerates our global offerings in the high-end mobility market.”
The announcement said that adding Switch-It to the Sunrise portfolio “will provide a number of long-term growth opportunities for Sunrise Medical.”
Andrew Parker, president of Switch-It, said of the acquisition, “We are excited to become part of Sunrise Medical. This acquisition brings us significant opportunities to leverage our growth and expand our international presence by utilizing the strong global reach of Sunrise.”
Switch-It is based in Missouri City, Texas, and has been designing driving controls for more than 25 years. Its product offerings include single- and multi-switch systems and proportional controls in configurations such as mini joysticks and head arrays to meet the needs of consumers with complex driving requirements.
