Overcoming Audits: Keys to Understanding, Responding & Coming Out Ahead

PLUS: 2012 Funding & Policy Update

Did your 2012 funding resolutions include getting — and staying — on the right side of the audit challenge this year?

Because audits can happen any time — before payment, in the midst of the claims process, or even after you’ve been paid — they can be draining energy from ATPs, billing specialists and everyone in between. Because so many different entities are conducting reviews and audits, it’s tough to know what they’re looking for, when and why.

From widespread pre-payment reviews to post-payment audits, funding expert Jim Stephenson, CMC, Invacare Corp., will give you insight into how auditors work and will share practical, hands-on advice on how to improve your own auditing track record.

Spend part of your “Leap Day” learning how to get a better jump on the audits you encounter this year.

What You’ll Learn:

  • What Auditors Are Looking For: What do auditors want to see when they examine claims and ask for additional documentation?
  • Why Auditors Deny Claims: Learn the most common reasons auditors deny claims and what you can do to avoid those pitfalls.
  • The ABCs of ADRs: How and when to respond when you receive an Additional Documentation Request.
  • BONUS: A 2012 Funding Update, including highlights of funding policy changes this year, such as the elimination of the ADMC for Group 4 chairs, plus — the latest news on PECOS implementation, CMS’s power mobility device demonstration project, and competitive bidding’s second round.
